Take the scenic drive up instead of the pond entrance. Park at the first parking section, and follow the signs to the waterfall to the right of the parking area. You'll regret not going, and will have to circle all the way back (it's a drive) if you miss it. The second parking area includes a scenic view area complete with overlook and viewing stations. The view from this point is just a hair's breadth away from the beautiful view you'll have from the Castle. Continue following the road, and you'll end up in the visitor's parking to the left. Walk up toward the building (Stables), and purchase your ticket at the guest shop and take the trolley up. The view is awesome. I don't mean that in the everyday sense of the word, but in it's original meaning. My wife fell in love with Olive's closet and dressing areas, as well as the Brown room. I loved hearing the history, and noticing bits of the character described in the art selection of the house. The piece I included a pic of depicting a man sharing with a starving dog was very indicative of Tom Plant's altruistic nature. All in all, my wife's expectations for our home have been raised.

Very interesting and beautiful. I would not recommend for people with young children as you are not supposed to touch anything. It is a historic old mansion. Staff at the mansion are very informative and friendly.Had lunch at the restaurant in the old carriage house. Excellent views , outside patio area is amazing! Service and food was great. Not understaffed like some restaurants now. It’s worth the drive or check it out on your way up north. The website says the restaurant is closed due to staffing shortages. This must be from last year and never got removed from the website. It opens at 1130 am and fully staffed. ( only on the days the castle is open )

Beautiful place. We visited it years ago but now it's even better. My pictures don't do it justice. It's a really beautiful place. When we went the first time they showed us where the water is that they bottled. You no longer can see this. It is well worth your trip to go here.

I did after hour self guided tour was amazing. I highly recommended since they have limited amounts of people. You admission come with one drink and some buffet of snacks. The staffs was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the castle.

An absolute must see. We were amazed at this castle and you will be too. The view at the top was incredible along with the waterfall on the way up. We also did the basement tour. It was well worth it. Amazing craftsmanship was put into building this castle.
