Can’t-Miss Christmas Light Displays in NH

It’s that time of year again, the lights have been strung, the carols will be sung, and Christmas is right around the corner. After such a trying couple of years, Christmas offers us a beacon of light, both figuratively and literally, as we tread into a new year. The days might be shorter, but the lights adorning our neighborhood front yards are sure to brighten up the holiday season and the shrinking hours of daylight. 

While you still have the chance, take your friends and family on a Christmas lights tour across NH! Listed below are some of the most iconic light displays, magical enough to melt the Scrooge in any Christmas Grinch.


Gift of Lights at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Loudon

When: Annual festival running Thursday, November 25, 2021, until Sunday, January 2, 2022 (4:30-9 pm Sundays-Thursdays and 4:30-10 pm Fridays & Saturdays).

Location: 1122 NH-106, Loudon, NH 03307

Description: NH Motor Speedway brings a whole other dimension of excitement to its guests during the holiday season. Featuring 520 displays, 80 different Christmas scenes, and over 3.5 million lights, the Gift of Lights Fest offers its visitors a Christmas memory to last a lifetime. Make yourself a cup of hot cocoa, and snuggle up in your car for the dazzling 2.5-mile drive-thru light tunnel. After the light tour is complete, enjoy a s’more at the fire pit, hosted by the Loudon Firefighters on Friday and Saturday nights. Also, be sure to check NH Motor Speedway’s calendar to take advantage of the event’s themed nights, like Ugly Sweater Night, PJ night, and Military Night. The Festival of Light Christmas Display at La Salette of Enfield

When: Wednesday through Sunday between 5-9 pm from Thanksgiving Day until January 2, 2022. 

Location: 410 NH-4A, Enfield, NH 03748

Description: This annual festival has brought in thousands of visitors from across the region to witness its dazzling outdoor light display, featuring life-sized nativity scenes adorning the shrine’s 20 acres of land. This year’s theme is “Mary Uniting All Cultures” which celebrates Mary as the Mother of God, as well as the 175th anniversary of her appearance as an apparition before shepherd children in the French Alps circa 1847. According to Father John Sullivan, one of the event’s coordinators, “It takes two to three months of work with a maintenance person and an electrician working the last few weeks to plug things in and put them in order.” Come enjoy this beautiful light spectacle, and don’t forget to grab a hot chocolate, cider, coffee or tea served in the onsite cafeteria. 


Santa’s Village Light Show

When: During the Christmas season, this show takes place on Main Street, three times each hour, beginning at dusk!

Location: Santa’s Village, 528 Presidential Hwy, Jefferson, NH 03583

Description: As part of the admission into this holiday-themed amusement park, visitors will have the opportunity to watch a light show choreographed and synced with classic Christmas tunes. This light show happens all year round; however, the most celebrated time to visit is during the park’s November and December months, where the event is held outside. From May to October, the event is held indoors at the park’s Polar Theater.


LaBelle Lights

When: Various dates from November 18, 2021, through February 26, 2022, between 4:30-9 pm. Check the schedule here.

Location: The Links at LaBelle Winery, 14 Route 111, Derry 

Description: This walking light tour is located along the golf course at LaBelle Winery and is designed for guests of all ages to enjoy. The walk takes about 15-20 minutes along a paved walking path and features 15 light displays, including meteor lights, a spritzer tunnel, large gift boxes, light tunnels, and carpet lights. Tickets to LaBelle Lights are $15 and will be available for purchase onsite at LaBelle Market or online via Eventbrite or LaBelle Winery’s website. Don’t miss the themed nights, including “Ugly Holiday Sweater Night” on December 17; “Fire and Ice” January 13-15; and a Valentine-themed event February 10-14.


Candlelight Stroll at Strawbery Banke

When: Saturdays in December from 5-9 pm, and Sundays in December from 4-8 pm.

Location: 14 Hancock St, Portsmouth, NH 03801

Strawbery Banke’s annual Candlelight Stroll on NH’s stunning seacoast presents hundreds of candle lanterns, “setting the open-air museum aglow, lining paths that wind through the museum’s festively decorated historic homes”. Visit Strawbery Banke to get a taste of Christmas past, with holiday carols, an outdoor bonfire, and homes furnished with authentic memorabilia from colonial settlers. Finally, listen to the costumed roleplayers regale you with tales of past holiday traditions. Volunteers are also needed to host this event. Prices vary depending on age. See website for details. 


Legendary Neighborhood Tours

Finally, the local light tours that we all know and love. Is there anything more nostalgic than meandering through nearby neighborhoods, becoming entranced by the light fixtures and wintry spectacles, just as impressive now as they were during childhood? I don’t know what’s more astonishing, the actual light displays, or the thought that someone had the resolve to string them up. As you know from your neighborhood Christmas Connoisseurs, outdoor decorating is not for the faint-hearted. But just like athletes need their fans, spectacles need their spectators and there has been no shortage of visitors traveling from near and far to bear witness to the neighborhood displays featured below. 

Bedford’s Jobin Christmas Lights

Epping’s Lamprey Village Christmas Lights

Fremont’s The Daly Family’s Festival of Lights

Goffstown’s Callaway Christmas Light Show

In Goffstown, drive-by 15 Pasture Dr. Tune your radio to 88.1 FM once you arrive outside the property to listen to their curated music playlist. You can find updates on Facebook.

Hudson’s Hudson NH Christmas

Londonderry’s Christmas in the Kings

Located at 3 King Edward Dr., Londonderry, this animated Christmas spectacle is set to 30 minutes of festive music. Visit between the hours of 4:30 and 11 pm. See Facebook for more updates.
